Travel across the peninsula
and learn about the wonders, and hardships,
of Kamchatka from local scientists and residents.
Kamchatka: Where the Elements Meet
takes you to many of Kamchatka's most famous
destinations in much the same way as you
might when actually touring the peninsula
- by helicopter, 6-wheel drive truck, and
on foot.
Here you'll find the most extensive footage
available for the Valley of the Geysers,
Uzon Calderas, Karimsky Volcano, and the
Mutnovsky Volcano region, and get a variety
of information about the phenomena that
are found in each.
Attention is given not only to the natural
beauty of Kamchatka but also to the inhabitants
and social conditions on the peninsula.
Produced by a Kamchatka film company, the
film has a local tone and talks openly about
the ecological and financial struggles that
the region has faced in the past and is
trying to deal with in the present.
With its balanced view of both the natural
world and human influence, the film offers
a valuable insight into Kamchatka.
Film available in both PAL and NTSC formats.
Note: Because of the rarity of this
film, we are currently only able to provide
copies with a Russian cover. The film
itself, however, is entirely in English.
From the Producer
Kamchatka: A
giant, wild peninsula at the extreme eastern
edge of Russia. Where the Elements Meet
takes us through the awesome and endangered
marvels of Kamchatka's nature; through an
environment unique in the world. It
is a journey through the steaming calderas
of Uzon, the wonders of the Valley of Geysers,
the erupting Mt. Karimsky. It tells
in close-up of the giant bears of Kurilskoye
Lake and of the struggles of Kamchatkan
salmon. It shows both some of the
remarkable elements of Kamchatka's flora
and fauna, and nature's inter-relationship
with man. In the protected areas of
the peninsula's five UNESCO World Heritage
Sites, its magnificent wildlife, its volcanic
grandeur, we get a full idea of the extraordinary
country that is Kamchatka.
